Are Our Underground Ghost Tours in Edinburgh Accessible?
As a local company we are passionate about showing off the sights of Scotland’s royal and ancient capital. We pride ourselves in providing tours in the healthiest and greenest way possible – walking.
We are conscious that some of our guests may have particular physical needs and requirements. Therefore we would like to use this section to provide more information as to how physically demanding our tours are and hopefully alleviate any concerns.
There are some mobility considerations within the Old Town; some of the streets have cobblestones and a number are quite steep and narrow. At particular points there are benches to sit down but not at every site. Our tours are conducted at a leisurely pace, allowing our guests to take in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy your guide’s stories. With the exception of our private Alternative tour and longer historical tour all our excursions are undertaken within the Old Town (don’t worry there are no shortage of incredible things to see inside this ancient neighbourhood) and involve less than half a mile of walking.
City of Edinburgh Tours is fortunate to have exclusive access to our own underground vaults below South Bridge, and all of our daily tours enter into them at some point. Unfortunately our vaults are not wheelchair accessible because entry is only possible by descending a single flight of spiral stairs. These stairs do have a strong supporting bannister which can provide support. Most of the floor in the underground is level but there are cobblestones in the final small chamber.
